    Lasting Joy

Today’s Joy is written by Ruhiyyih Rose MacBradaigh. I have known Rose for several years, and we have seen each other through dozens of life’s ups and downs. If you struggle to believe in miracles, please ask me about my friendship with Ruhiyyih, because our relationship now is nothing short of a beautiful work of the Holy Spirit. I asked Rose to write a post about Joy not only is she more entertaining that I am as a writer, but I have seen her take sorrows and turn them into

    How does your garden grow?

When I was in Jr. High, my family lived on 3 acres of land in Nebraska.  Although we only lived there four years, and moved in 1997, those 3 acres come into mind when I think of “home”. Maybe someday I’ll take the time to describe it’s beautiful, white, farm-house, red barn and chicken coup, my woods and my reading tree. Today though, I’m thinking about mom’s garden. Our garden was enormous. Truly. I wish I could give you exact dimensions to give you a true picture, but my be

    In Parts. Five.

Part 5: El fin y el presente. Todo es nuevo I hope you enjoyed the catch-up story over the last few days. I stopped blogging awhile back for many reasons. There were so many new things and transitions going on in my life. Everything was changing and uncertain. In the midst of that, I was in year 1.5 of culture shock after moving to Nashville. This tends to be the time in a move for me when I want out, am not sure what to do, and feel desperately empty and alone. When I look t

    In Parts. Two

Part 2: Work This summer was one of the best times of my life to date. With no steady employment, I was forced to depend daily on Christ and rest in His great love for me. My faith grew immensely as I knew that I was a loved child of God who wanted to care for me. Along with that, I had to acknowledge that His idea of caring for me and my idea might be a little different. While fully knowing there are millions that are unemployed and struggling for every bite to eat, I was fo

    In parts. One

Part 1: Recap I left my job back in February, and by the end of the month I was in South Africa. A lot has happened since then. Here’s a re-cap. Next week will break it down in separate posts. I’ve got to keep your attention somehow! March 1 – April 15: Volunteering with Angels of Mercy Pregnancy Crisis Centre. Curious? See previous posts starting here. April – May: Spent time with my family in Nebraska, as part of sending off Alicia to Bolivia with Word Made Flesh. May – J

because some days are worth 2 posts

I just had the greatest suprise. So great, that I had to post again, even though I already posted a few minutes ago.  Wait for it, wait for it. I had lunch with YURI! Yes, Yuri. Famous LASP photographer, engineer, selfless giver, preacher, interpreter, Yuri. He was driving through Nashville on his way home from Atlanta to Seattle (!) exactly at the time of my lunch break. Exactly. Coincidence? I think not. I’m filled with joy at God’s love for me as well as for Yuri. Only Wed
